A properly installed architectural asphalt shingle roof typically lasts 25 – 35 years on Vancouver Island. Luxury / designer shingles can last 40 – 50 years. Annual moss treatment significantly extends shingle life in our climate.
What is the difference between 3-tab and architectural shingles?+
Three-tab shingles are a flat, single-layer product with a 15 – 20 year life. Architectural shingles are a dimensional, multi-layer product with a 30+ year life and significantly better wind and moss resistance. We do not recommend or install 3-tab shingles on Vancouver Island.
